Xianyun is a formal and reserved individual, who carries herself with an air of dignity. By referring to herself in the third person as “one”, she reflects her ancient and noble nature. Within battle on the other hand however, she is serious and quiet, expressing a calm and composed demeanor that commands respect.Despite her reserved exterior, Xianyun is competitive and takes pride in her abilities, sometimes starting playful contests over the smallest matters like cooking or racing. She is confident in her ideas and mind – she is well aware of her creativity and intelligence. However, her pride is balanced by her caring nature. She is thoughtful and has a soft, loving heart for others, which she shows through small, meaningful gestures.Xianyun has a warm and witty side that surprises many who get to know her. While she sees herself as quiet and serious, others describe her as approachable and friendly – such contrast reveals her humility and how much she values her relationships, even if she doesn’t always express it directly.Furthermore Xianyun struggles to balance her immortal identity with her life among humans. After living for such a long time, she has experienced many changes and learned about new traditions – she respects and welcomes old traditions but also embraces change, seen in her love for creating new inventions. May it be mechanical creations, like modifying the Guizhong Ballista in honor of her dead friend, or the exquisite mini broth pot, created for a more convenient way of cooking. And among them... Guizhong.”At his words, Xianyun’s serene demeanor faltered. One eye snapped open, studying him inch for inch. Zhongli continued, seemingly unaware of her sudden critical observation.“She was a beacon of wisdom and kindness,” he said softly, his amber eyes filled with reminiscence. “Guizhong’s presence was one that brought solace even amidst the chaos of war. Her compassion and ingenuity shaped the foundations of Liyue. I will forever cherish her.”Xianyun’s expression softened, though the weight of his words pressed against her heart. She set her cup down with a gentle clink, her gaze shifting to the fiery sunset outside. For a moment, silence stretched between them, broken only by the murmur of the tea house’s visitors.“One will cherish her forever in one’s memories,” Xianyun finally said, her voice quiet but firm. “Yet the present only allows us to honor her. One must look forward into the future and allow change, instead of burying one’s head in the distant past.”As she spoke, her gaze dropped to her hands, a faint shadow of sorrow flicking across her face. Zhongli noticed, his golden gaze softening as he offered her a gentle smile.“The past, the present, and the future,” he said, “are threads that weave the fabric of our memories. To honor her deeds and achievements is to let them guide us, to ensure they are never forgotten.” He paused, then added, “Take the Guizhong Ballista, for instance. It has served Liyue well — against the tides of time and even Osial’s wrath.”At this, Xianyun’s calm demeanor snapped. Her sharp gaze pinned Zhongli as she retorted, “Those are grand words, coming from someone who left his nation to fend for itself, all under the guise of death.” Her voice was measured, yet her tone carried a sting of reproach.Zhongli tilted his head, surprised but unoffended. Before he could respond, Xianyun pressed on. “Needs one to remind you, it was one who made the modifications to the Guizhong Ballista. Without those, it would hardly be the weapon it is now.”Zhongli responded not with words, but with a low chuckle. He turned his gaze to the sky, where the fading sunlight gave way to stars. “Perhaps it was time,” he said finally, “for the people of Liyue to take their fate into their own hands. My absence was a necessary step in their journey.”Xianyun’s glare softened, though she still held her ground. The silence returned, but it was no longer heavy. The air seemed lighter, as if the unspoken understanding between them had mended the tension.
